Santiago, Jan 21 (efe-epa).- Argentina will be seeking their first victory of the 2019 South American U-20 tournament in Chile when they face Ecuador, who started the competition with a resounding win before stumbling in the second match.
On Sunday, Argentina managed only a 1-1 draw against Paraguay despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances.
Ecuador started the tournament with a 3-0 rout of Paraguay before losing 3-1 against defending champions Uruguay in a match Ecuadorian coach Jorge Celico said was plagued with defensive errors.
The Argentine coach, Fernando Batista, said the team played a great match against Paraguay, but acknowledged that his players were affected by "anxiety and nerves."
As for Ecuador, Celico says the team is over the setback against Uruguay and is ready to fight for one of the berths in this year's U-20 World Cup in Poland.
The four best teams in the South American U-20 will qualify for the world championship.
Even after the loss to Uruguay, Ecuador remain tied for the lead in Group B.
