Monterrey, Mexico, Nov 21 (epa-efe).- Tigres UANL president Miguel Angel Garza said the Liga MX club expected to re-sign French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac on Wednesday.

"I hope the document is signed by Andre before noon. We have discussed the details already and nothing but the signature is missing. I spoke with him and he agrees, he gave us his word that Wednesday would be the day of the signing," the club executive said Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Gignac made an impact on the Tigres when he joined the Liga MX club in 2015 from Marseille.

The French striker received a salary of 1 million euros (about $1.1 million) per year and his new contract, which will run until July 2021, is expected to include a pay increase.

Garza said the club hoped to add reinforcements for the 2019 Clausura tournament and was interested in signing Colombian Jarlan Barrera, a 23-year-old midfielder with Junior de Barranquilla who also happens to be the nephew of legendary player Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama.

"He is a player who we have followed closely and we are in the process of closing a deal with for the Tigres. These are, again, some of the moves that the club is making so that they can participate in the organization, knowing that they are young players with a promising future," Garza said.

Garza said the club expects to wrap up the re-signings this week of most of the current players on the roster because, although the Tigres did not qualify for the playoffs, management was satisfied with their performance in the tournament.
