Marseille coach to stay despite 2-5 home loss

Paris, Mar 19 (EFE).- Vincent Labrune, president of Olympique de Marseille, confirmed on Saturday that Spanish coach Jose Miguel Gonzalez "Michel" will continue to lead the French team until the end of the season, despite the home 2-5 defeat against Rennes on Friday.

In an interview with Infosport and Canal Plus, Labrune said the team started the season with Michel and will end it with the same coach.

Marseille president explained that he never used to change things during the season, indicating that he hasn't got resources to do what he wants at the French club for years.

However, Labrune pointed out that he expects "more" from both Michel and the team as the players' level is "higher" than the achieved results.

With Friday's 2-5 defeat, Marseille failed to achieve victory for the seventh consecutive game in the French league to occupy provisionally the tenth place in Ligue 1, whose title was secured by Paris Saint-Germain last week.
