New York, May 6 (EFE).- Actress Rita Wilson, the wife of Tom Hanks, has returned to Broadway, the mecca of New York theater, after recently revealing that she was suffering from breast cancer and that she had undergone a double mastectomy.
"So happy to be back on Bway with my theater family tonight!" she wrote on Twitter on Tuesday night before the start of the play "Fish in the Dark" at the Cort Theater.
After the performance, the 58-year-old Wilson greeted theatergoers and signed several autographs to the applause of the people who gathered at the door of the New York theater to show their support for her.
Wilson revealed in mid-April that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had undergone a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery on her breasts.
She told People magazine at the time in a communique that she was recovering and, more importantly, is expected to make a full recovery because the cancer was detected early, she had excellent doctors and she sought a second opinion.
